Medical Emergency Aid and confidential evidence collection after Rape

sos-nach-vergewaltigung.de

Due to fear, shame or desperation, you may not be ready to go to the police after experiencing sexual violence. Regardless of if you want to file a report to the police or not, you need immediate medical assistance - even if you have no visible injuries.

You can go to the confidential evidence collection regardless of gender, sexual identity and orientation or your relationship to the perpetrator.

13 partnered Hospitals in Brandenburg will help you regardless of a police report to collect evidence if you wish so and will support you medically. This way, you will have time later on, if you want to file a police report.

Act as quickly as possible

Every sexual assault is a medical emergency! For evidence collection time plays a crucial role. Most of the evidence needs to be secured after at most 3 days after the crime. Please get medical care as fast as possible. For this, please turn to the central emergency room of partner clinics.

And even though it will probably be very hard: Refrain from showering or changing clothes. Only then we can secure all the evidence for you

You can be accompanied by a trusted person for support.

You have multiple options:

Investigation procedure

Something happened. A sexual assault Now what?

Please immediately turn to the emergency room of a partnered clinic.

After your registration you will be directed to a calm place, where you can plan the further procedure with a doctor. Medical aid and evidence collection at our partnered clinics is possible around the clock. The team of medical professionals is specifically trained for these scenarios. The examination is confidential and independent of the police. In the clinic your insurance information will be collected for attribution in case you want to file a report. Third parties will only receive encrypted information and medical confidentiality also still applies.

Please refrain from washing yourself or brushing your teeth, as this could erase evidence. If possible, please also bring in worn clothes or other pieces of evidence like bed sheets. Wet pieces of evidence should be kept in paper bags.

As first aid there will be a physical examination with a written and photographic documentation of findings. Injuries in need of care will be tended to and a further diagnosis will be started. If you wish to do so, afterwards, you may get into contact with institutions for helping victims.

The documentation, evidence collection and preservation for affected is free of charge.  Your medical report stays at the hospital. Evidence material wil be stored securely and pseudonomized for 10 years.

It is your personal choice, whether you report the crime or not.If you decide to do so at a later point in time, you should tell the police that the evidence has been secured in the clinic. The police will then take the next necessary steps.
